House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa and Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) are done with the DOJ's continued noncompliance to a subpoena for all put forth all the documents relating to the Fast and Furious gun walking operation.
Appearing on "On the Record w/Greta Van Susteren" last night, Rep. Gowdy said, "I talked to Chairman Issa who as you know is a patient man but even his patience has limits. Before Memorial Day, Eric Holder will either comply or he will suffer consequences and when I say consequences I mean contempt of Congress."
Issa and Gowdy appear to be serious in following through with their threat. They've already drafted a proposed contempt of Congress citation against AG Eric H. Holder in which they charge he and the DOJ have repeatedly "obstructed and slowed" their investigation into the ATF's botched Fast and Furious gun-tracking operation.
A contempt resolution would also further elevate feud between Rep. Issa and the Obama administration. Earlier in the week Issa called the Obama administration "the most corrupt in government history."
But there also appears to be a disconnect between Rep. Darrel Issa and House Speaker John Boehner, with GOP aides claiming that the Speaker has not green-lighted the contempt charges.
The GOP leadership aide said that "while there are very legitimate arguments to be made in favor of such an action [holding Holder in contempt], no decision has been made to move forward with one by the Speaker or by House Republican leaders."
--South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy will discuss these new developments on Lou Dobbs Tonight at 7pm (ET) on the FOX Business Network.
