Visiting Colorado today, the president learned that he's trailing Mitt Romney in that state, but leads his presumptive Republican challenger in both Virginia and Wisconsin.
The Quinnipiac University/New York Times/CBS News Swing State Poll also says that "the gender gap continues to dominate the presidential race," with women backing Obama and men backing Romney by big margins.
The poll gives Romney a 50%-45% lead in Colorado; Obama leads by 49%-45% in Virginia and 51%-45% in Wisconsin.
Last week, the same survey gave Obama leads in three other swing states: Ohio, Florida and Iowa.
"There is good reason why Virginia, Colorado and Wisconsin are considered swing states, and this data shows how close they are," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
The poll also found that the disclosure by candidates of multiple years of taxes had the support of 48 percent in Colorado and 52 percent in the other two states.
The three-state average of around 19 percent of those surveyed had no issue with presidential candidates releasing just one or two years of tax returns.
And an average of 25 percent said it wasn't necessary for candidates to release any tax returns at all, meaning that almost as many people were on Romney's side of the issue as were on the side wanting to see many more years of a candidate's returns. |
