Mark Sullivan, Director of the Secret Service is feeling the political pressure surrounding the prostitution scandal embroiling his agency.
While some lawmakers like Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, are vouching for Sullivan and congratulated him on his response to the scandal, others are not quite as impressed with his leadership of the department charged with safe guarding the President.
Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., says Sullivan should be replaced. "In baseball, you get three strikes and you're out. I don't know how many strikes you get in national security, but the strikes are mounting up."
Forbes went on to say on FOX News that, "Now they can't even control the fact that their agents are busing in loads of prostitutes. I think it's about time that we say they're out."
Also appearing on FOX News, Republican Senator from Maine Susan Collins said, "It is hard for me to believe that this is the one and only time this has happened because there were so many Secret Service members involved."
In response to the mounting scrutiny, the agency today announced three agents are leaving the Secret Service. The agency said Wednesday it plans to fire one supervisor for cause, while the second supervisor was allowed to retire. A third employee of the agency also resigned. The remaining eight Secret Service agents involved are on leave with their security clearances suspended.
