The Obama re-election campaign over the weekend put together two fundraisers meant to revitalize contributions to the president's campaign coffers.
So who would a Democrat seeking re-election turn to, none other than the saxaphone playing, two-term "Godfather" of the party, Former President Bill Clinton.
During two campaign fundraising dinners over the weekend, Clinton, the husband of Obama's Demorcratic presidential primary rival, and now Obama Secretary of State, Hillary Cliinton offered dinner goers a less than bubbly praise of the president's performance in his first term.
"Look, the man's not Houdini; all he can do is beat the clock," Clinton said at the fundraiser.
"When I was president, Japan went through a long real estate and financial collapse, and after 10 years they still weren't back to full employment...[but] I think he is beating the historical standard for coming out of a financial collapse and a mortgage collapse," Clinton said.
In total, some 580-supporters paid anywhere from $1,000 to $20,000 to hear the two men speak, raising some $2 million dollars that will be added to the president's campaign warchest.
