Just days into his official re-election campaign, President Obama is heading off to Hollywood for a fundraiser at the home of George Clooney and 150 of his closest friends.
The trip comes just hours after the president announced his evolved position on gay marriage. A new position that could payoff handsomely for a president whose campaign fundraising efforts not exactly been that of blockbuster levels.
Tonight however, President Obama is expected to rake in $15 million as the who's who of Hollywood. Attendees are to include "Iron Man" actor Robert Downey Jr., Tobey Maguire, Barbra Streisand, and director-producer J.J. Abrams. The event was put together by Dreamworks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenbergy and his wife.
The dinner with the Obama and Clooney comes with a lofty price tag, $40,000 a ticket.
The event in the works for sometime now was originally supposed to net the president's coffers about $10 million. But according to the Wall Street Journal, that number has grown to $15 million.
The reason? The raffle. "The number of people who wanted to go to Clooney's house was through the roof," this person said. The Obama campaign declined to comment on the event.
