Debrief - 02/08/2010 Another week off to a rousing start. Congratulations to the Saints for their Super Bowl victory. Perhaps this weekend's example of sportsmanship is rubbing off on President Obama. The President is calling for a bipartisan meeting with Republicans on health care reform. Could this be a genuine olive branch to the Republicans or is this just feigned humility in light of the American Public's refusal to make the hard left turn he and his party wish to take the nation.
Debrief - 02/04/2010 North Carolina's Education Department is up to a little history revision of its own. The state agency wants to truncate American history; leaving out oh let's start with the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War just to name a couple monumental events in our nation's history! These people are nuts!
Webcast #18 The Independent Nation is getting a little fed-up with the President's "Big Government" approach to the rehabilitation of our nation's economy. $1,300,000,000,000 in new taxes. Is this man out of his mind?
Debrief - 02/03/2010 The White House and the Democrats in Congress are waking up to the rising tide that is the Independent movement! And they better take notice, cause it's sure going to have a major impact on the 2010 midterm elections!
Debrief - 02/02/2010 A large number of state legislatures, 29 to be precise, are currently working free their constituents from a proposed federal mandate requiring all Americans to buy health care insurance. And do you realize that two-thirds of the President's proposed $3,800,000,000,000 budget will be paid for by borrowed money and brand new taxes? That's crazy folks!
Lou's Welcome Message Lou welcomes Independent America members to the site.
New Orleans celebrates, the Northeast digs out from the snowstorm, and the rest of Independent America continues the national conversation right here: 877-55-DOBBS. What did you think of the Super Bowl and the ads? Was the left's crying over the Tim Tebow/Focus on the Family ad much ado about nothing? What do you think about Obama's renewed promise to televise the health-care negotiations? Do you believe the Republicans are trying to start a civil war, as a DailyKos column suggested this weekend? All that, and much more ahead...plus, your independent voice, all day long.
Joining Lou on Monday will be TERRY STOOPS, policy analyst for pre-school, elementary, and secondary education for the John Locke Foundation. He offers his insight on North Carolina's bizarre decision to begin their U.S. History

Gerard Alexander's op-ed in the Washington Post asks that very question, which Lou has asked repeatedly. Alexander says Obama and other leading liberals have joined in a chorus of intellectual condescension.
The Wall Street Journal tackles an issue Lou has proposed for some time: Washington needs fewer career politicians and more Americans who understand what it's like to be middle class in this country.
Forget the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Founding Fathers. North Carolina's D.O.E. wants to start high-school students off with Rutherford B. Hayes! Thanks for missing the point of learning.
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the...

If President Obama would just step forth and state to Democrats, Republicans and the American citizens, ?My fellow Americans, we are at war in the Middle East and our troops are facing terrorists there as well as on our shores. I am going to overturn recent decisions and issue a command, as your Commander in Chief, that the terrorists that have caused death and destruction in the Middle East and within our shores and on our airplanes, are indeed terrorists, and as such war criminals. I will not allow them to be tried in a US Court of Law...period. They will immediately be transferred back to a military prison and tried by a military tribunal as war criminals as soon as possible. Thank you and may God Bless America?...and then walk away from the podium.
I think a strong Presidential action, or any definitive command direct from the President, to stop this melee in Washington would increase his approval rating through out the USA and the World.
